THANK YOU ADAM!On Saturday, January 14 the Norwood Public Library celebrated the completion of the new Kids’ Corner Young Readers Center. This is Adam Weissman’s Eagle Scout Service Project. Adam is a member of Troop 120 in Norwood. Shown below is Adam with library Director Siobhan Koch and Mayor James Barsa at the dedication ceremony.

The Project included a raised and carpeted platform, kid friendly shelves close to the floor, a bulletin board just for the kids, story time area, a carpeted bench and floor pillows.
Adam has been a volunteer at the library for the past four years. He went to The First Dog Training Club of Northern New Jersey and trained his dog Phoenix to be a therapy dog.
Adam also earned his certification as a therapy dog handler. With these certifications, Adam and Phoenix volunteer in the Therapy Dog International Read to Dog Program. This program is designed to help improve the reading skills of young readers. Adam and Phoenix have also been awarded the Therapy Dog International TWT Award (Tail Waggin Tutor Award) for his first 100 visits. It is because of Adam's woodworking skills, his love for books, the library and a decision to become a writer that motivated this project.
